About

Off The Post

I began blogging in 2005 when I launched my first web site, www.wornrecords.ca and the Steamroller Music Blog. I have since started numerous blogs related to many things, some for my enjoyment, others for professional use. I have been an Oilers fan since I could walk, and witnessed first hand as my Oilers captured their first 5 Stanley Cups. Born in 1976, I grew up in Edmonton in the 80’s before moving to Vancouver in 1987. Though I have watched an supported from a far for many years, my loyalty has never waivered. I bleed orange/copper and blue. Not being an Oilers fan just isn’t an option, even if I wanted it to be. In life there are few certainties, one however is my forever passion for the Edmonton Oilers.

Over the years I have occasionally writen for a few other Oilers blogs, as well as regularily chiming in on many forums. I do not claim to have any “insight” into the organization, or the behind the scenes dealings of players or team politics. I have no interest in posting rumors as facts, but I do enjoy discussing posibilites regardless of how far fetched. I have never played anything more than semi organized recreational hockey, excelling more in goal than as a forward. Throw me on a pair of skates today and I will likely spend more time on my rear then rushing up ice, deaking a couple of D men, and shoveling a sweet backhand five hole to beat the tender. I feel it important to state this since hockey is such a passion for so many people, especially Canadians, and I am certainly not an authority on the game, how it should be played, or how any organizations should be run. One thing I know is that I love the Oilers, and I have followed them for as long as I can remember. I know the history, the stats, the jersey numbers. I am most definately a homer and I don’t appologize for that. I will always try to find the silver lining, possibly to a fault. I take it personally when we lose, and I feel empowered when we win.

I encourage my readers to comment as often as possible. Leave me ideas for more features on this web site as I wish to grow it into an excellent resource for Oilers information. Let me know how I am doing, if you agree, disagree or just want to tell me that I don’t have a clue what I’m talking about. This blog is for the fans by a fan, nothing more.
